My pen name is Aria deSatanas, and I am the author of “Finding Empowerment: Tenets, Sigils and Rituals”, which is a short handbook about my early views on The Satanic Temple’s “Seven Tenets” and some rituals and sigils I made about them. I am an ordained Satanic Priestess, a social media consultant for several small communities and… a former member and staff of The Satanic Temple.
Keep in mind, this is an anthology article of a live broadcast; watch the attached YouTube for more clarity.
So! Let’s get to it. What IS the Satanic Temple, or TST, and what does it have to do with Abortion and what the HELL is a “Satanic Abortion Ritual”? To get to some of those answers, I will begin at the start with the who, what when and why. There is A LOT to unpack when it comes to The United Federation of Churches LLC.
Okay, so what was that? Aren’t we talking about The Satanic Temple? Well, yes, and no. UFC LLC is TSTs parent company, as is it for several other companies such as Winstionian Enterprises, Cinephobia, and several others. Let’s dive into this labyrinth and see what we can find.
First, what does the Satanic Temple have to say about themselves, what are they, what are they doing and why?? Let’s take a look at several articles about the organization, TST’s different public sites and at external public information about the TWO sole owners of the temple.
First, lets visit TSTs own site a bit:
Now let’s learn about “Malcolm Jarry” or Cevin Soling. One who recently was confirmed to be part of, if not the leader of, a “Cargo Cult”. In an article from the Guardian.
‘There was a prophecy I would come’: the western men who think they are South Pacific kings
And more about him from the Satanic Wiki, which is a repository of linked public information about TST.
And now let’s talk a bit about Doug, in an article from a former friend of “Lucien Greaves”… aka Doug Mesner… aka Doug Misicko.
Unmasking Lucien Greaves, Leader of the Satanic Temple
Also, I hope you can hear this recording from Archive.org of the “Might is Right” 24 hour podcast special, the quality isn’t great, but in the words of Doug “Lucien Greaves” Misicko himself: [3 hours and 31 minutes in]

How much can people change, especially when they deny saying things like that? I won’t trust or spend a dime on someone or something led by that kind of person. Especially when it comes to reproductive rights. I’ll trust Planned Parenthood and the ACLU, I’ll trust Lilith Fund, and TEA fund and so many other frontline abortion healthcare workers.
So, what do OTHERS say about TST, what it is, and who the owners are?
What IS the RFRA- The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993, Pub. L. No. 103-141, 107 Stat. 1488 (November 16, 1993), codified at 42 U.S.C. § 2000bb through 42 U.S.C. § 2000bb-4 (also known as RFRA, pronounced “rifra”), is a 1993 United States federal law that “ensures that interests in religious freedom are protected.”
RFRA as applied to the states was held unconstitutional by the United States Supreme Court in the City of Boerne v. Flores decision in 1997, which ruled that the RFRA is not a proper exercise of Congress’s enforcement power. However, it continues to be applied to the federal government—for instance, in Gonzales v. O Centro Espírita Beneficente União do Vegetal (2006) and Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. (2014). These cases did not consider whether Congress was violating the Establishment Clause if it carves out exemptions based on religious laws from federal laws and regulations that it itself has authorized. In response to City of Boerne v. Flores and other related RFR issues, twenty-one individual states have passed State Religious Freedom Restoration Acts that apply to state governments and local municipalities.
TST now has a history of the use of RFRA arguments. TST has taken several cases to court over reproductive freedoms, but under the guise of Religious Freedom or the RFRA.
Even some prior to the “Satanic Abortion Ritual”. For example, the Mary Doe case, which is a tragic case, once fully revealed. First mass media reported exactly what TST wanted them to: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2018/01/23/woman-says-that-missouris-strict-abortion-regulations-violate-her-religion-the-satanic-temple/
TST celebrated it as a win,
but behind the scenes… things were a lot less about “Freedom” or “Mary”.
Mary Doe Speaks: Her Story — The Satanic Temple, a Case Experience
The Satanic Temple’s “Satanic Abortion Ritual” was first made public on August 5th, 2020. A short misinformative video was published The Satanic Temple’s Religious Abortion Ritual stating their newly created “Abortion Ritual” granted their members the freedom to surpass government restrictions on abortion.
Shortly after, they sued Texas Planned Parenthood and the State of Texas on RFRA grounds, for a member seeking an abortion. The Satanic Temple Sues Texas Over Abortion Regulations It Argues Infringe On Members’ Religious Beliefs
They later tried to make it federal with a letter to the FDA.
Satanists may be the last hope against Texas’s abortion bill
Not all folks, including other Satanic groups and folks, agree with what the Satanic Temple says about abortion being a “Satanic Ritual”…
I reached out to Global Order of Satan and had the following in response to TST’s abortion actions:
“On behalf of Global Order of Satan, we have spent years persuading people that abortion is not a Satanic ritual… only for TST to blunder in and shit all over the hard work; that’s been done for years to convince folks that it’s [Abortion] a vital medical procedure that gives folks reproductive free choice and control over what happens with their bodies.” – Cain Abaddon
The Luciferian Dominion also wrote an informative and scathing article about what they thought about the Satanic Temple’s actions.
A Recent Newsweek article brought up some good points about the failures and issues within TST, but it had some informational issues.
For a long explanation form one of the defendants in the SLAPP suit TST has against 4 former members, I refer us to a Twitter thread by
Azazel on Twitter: “#TheSatanicTemple, an allegedly progressive religion that claims to fight religious overreach, is secretly spending tens of thousands in litigation to target former members after TST’s owners were criticized on FB for a pattern of failing to live up to their own professed tenets”
SO, how many cases has TST won, or lost? Are any ongoing? We look to CNN first, for the most famous “win” for the temple.
Next, we refer to an archive of public information to learn the status of other cases, for profit and not for profit.
What are the negativie effects of Abortion Ritual and other TST misinformation?
Many conspiracies exist within abrahamic religious groups that Satan exists and that Satanists sacrifice children in crazy rituals. TST coming out with, an ironic or not, “Satanic Abortion Ritual” makes it almost impossible for the conspiracies about Satanists being involved in human sacrifce to be disproven to conspiricists.
Reddit, like often, is a great place to source ideas and social positions. Let’s dig into one thread about TST, and the subsequent links it provides us with.
What do Abortion organizations think about TST’s “Abortion RItual”?
Abortion Squad even shared this TwitterSpaces announcement, so some information could be dissimentiated further to dispel the falseshoods that The Satanic Temple can give you legal right to an abortion, over a state law.
Earlier in the year, Texas Equal Access Fund made it very clear their thoughts on the matter:
So, what does TST do to negate negative issues and keep good current International Relations in “Hot Areas” [In Reference to regions such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Honduras, El Salvador, Eastern Europe, UK, Nicaragua etc.] due to recent takes on Abortion and general operations?
The short and frustrating answer is, nothing has been done, internationally, to combat Abortion bans, FOR ANYONE, by The Satanic Temple; a self aclaimed “International Religious Organization”. This is one of many reasons that the original UK TST Chapter [congregation] split from the Satanic temple. In fact, nothing has been accomplished to further reproductive rights for anyone by The Satanic Temple and it has diverted millions [I think, because nobody knows how they spend their money, yet] away from frontline reproductive rights organizations.
We may finally see how much financial damage TST has done, if Arkansas gets its way in court.
Now, with that all said, PLEASE DO NOT DONATE TO THE SATANIC TEMPLE. You have NO idea where or what your money is being used for. If you support reproductive freedom, donate to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and other local abortion frontline organizations.
